A distraught mother suspects her teenage son is plotting a school shooting, but when he slips through the cracks of the system, she is forced to take matters into her own hands. After installing an elaborate spy camera system in their home, Abbey captures a series of disturbing videos that confirm her worst fears.Torn between a mother’s unconditional love and a mother’s acute intuition, Abbey caters her videos to all the other “mothers of monsters” online. Abbey’s plan backfires when Jacob uses a dark family secret against her, launching both mother and son on a terrifying, and ultimately deadly, game of cat and mouse. (Google)
I’ve only seen two good films about this subject. That doesn’t mean these are the only good films about what goes into a school shooter, it just means these are the two films on the subject that I’ve seen.
“We Need To Talk About Kevin.” Starring Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller, this film is amazing and similar in some ways to “M.O.M.” Both moms have a son they can’t figure out, and both boys have a similar plan.
M.O.M. has an excellent cast
Melinda Page Hamilton (Abbey) Melinda has so many credits to her name that I will refer you to the cast page of the M.O.M. website.
Bailey Edwards (Jacob) “Highway 1” not yet released, and several other very interesting looking plays and films.
Edward Asner (Dr. Arden) So many credits
Janet Ulrich Brooks (Millie) I have never reviewed a film with only five actors and more credits than 1/3 of Hollywood. These actors are amazing.
Julian de la Celle (Greg) Sooooo many credits
I am very happy that I had the chance to watch and review this film.
There have been so many school, church and workplace shootings. How many of these shootings could have been stopped. Families, friends and complete strangers on any number of social media sites know. THEY KNOW, they know! that a certain child or adult is going to commit mass murder. Many know where and when. ‘See something say something doesn’t work. There has to be a better way.
Off topic there for a few minutes. I have a lot to say on the topic. That’s for another day and other article.
As I am finishing up this review, I got a notice from Chrome telling me that there is a shooter at a Bangkok Shopping center. A soldier from the local base killed his commanding officer and two other people and then 26 people at a local shopping center. God bless the families who have lost loved ones, the injured, and all the others who will never be quite the same.
A dialogue can be opened with your children after viewing. Obviously, young children should not be allowed to view this film. However, they should have some have some kind of dialogue of parents to let them know what’s going on.
M.O.M. Mothers against Monsters gets a 9/10.
